I see many patients in their 40s, 50s, and 60s and one of the things I hear from these people all the time is, “well my doctor told me I’m just getting old and to expect the pain.” After a couple visits with me they understand that one can grow old without the pain and dysfunction most of us accept as normal.
As a chiropractor, I care for patients of all ages and with a variety of health conditions. So whether you have headaches, back and neck pain or a sports injury, my goal is to put you back on the path to health. You don’t have to live with pain!
Our Services
Our office offers comprehensive care for all types of injuries, including:
- Chiropractic care for the spine
- Chiropractic extremity specialization
- Physiotherapy
- Active Release Techniques® (ART)
- Corrective orthotic prescription
Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care involves gentle, directed adjustments to realign the vertebrae of the spine, as well as any joints that have restricted movement. It’s been proven to reduce pain and help you regain normal motion. If the spine is not correctly aligned it will place pressure on the spinal nerves exiting the spinal cord, which will result in dysfunction or even pain.
While it’s best known as a treatment for back pain, it’s also great for headaches, neck pain and hip issues like sciatica.
Physiotherapy
In addition to chiropractic adjustments, we also offer physiotherapy. A good stretching and exercise regime is the final rehabilitative link in the pain puzzle. By combining adjustments with ART and physiotherapy, the patient is given a comprehensive solution to living pain-free and closer to their physical potential.
Here’s a great example: We see a lot of patients with plantar fasciitis (a painful tightening of the muscles in the feet, heels and calves), which is in part a result walking up and down East Tennessee’s beautiful hills.
In addition to aligning the pelvis to allow the knees and feet to track properly, I can show you a simple, two-minute stretch that will help relieve the pain. For any chronic condition, a physiotherapy evaluation and rehabilitative program is essential as an adjunct to chiropractic treatments.
Active Release Therapy
In addition to chiropractic care and physiotherapy, our office uses a technique called Active Release Techniques. Where chiropractic focuses on the spine and joints, ART focuses on the muscles and fascia (soft tissues).
ART is a patented treatment for muscle pain from overuse. There are over 500 treatment protocols designed to help heal pulls, tears, contusions and even hypoxia (where the muscle isn’t getting enough oxygen), and I have been trained in all of these for the upper extremities, lower extremities, and the spine.
ART is great for headaches as well repetitive motion injuries like tennis elbow, and it can help with pain from car accidents and sports injuries, too.
Foot Orthotics
As a chiropractic extremity and foot specialist, I understand the importance of placing the foot in its most functional position. There are a variety of foot and ankle issues that, if left uncorrected, will eventually result in knee and hip pain, and even back pain. For a problematic foot, these issues may not manifest until the late 40s and 50s, so it is important to evaluate one’s gait and feet as early as possible.
A corrective orthotic is not for everyone, but for many it can change their life (they changed mine, for example!). Let me show you how adjustments and custom orthotics may be able to help you.
What to Expect On Your First Visit
On your first visit, I’ll spend time getting to know you and your injuries, pain and other concerns, and will also do your first adjustment.
Adjustments can be done sitting up or lying down. I have a table designed to make adjustments painless and gentle, and to target just the right area for your pain relief.
During your session, you may also receive physiotherapy and/or ART, both of which will help get you back on the road to wellness.
A Treatment Plan Designed Just for You
After our first session, I’ll map out a treatment plan just for you. Since every treatment plan is customized, some patients may need only a few visits, while others may need longer-term care.
So whether you’re here for back pain, neck pain, headaches, sporting-related injuries, or wellness care, my goal is to reduce pain and increase motion quickly — allowing you to live a more active life.
