Rehabilitation
Dr. John is certified by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners in Chiropractic as well as Physiotherapy. Additionally Dr. John is a Certified Chiropractic Extremities Practitioner, is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Corrective Exercise Specialist, and also completed a 6-month internship in sports chiropractic.
He has worked with many athletes in their recovery from fractures, sprains, strains, tendinitis, and other injuries. Dr. John examines the cause of the injury, the seriousness or grade of injury, and develops a plan to rehabilitate the athlete to get them returning to play as soon as possible while keeping them injury free. When necessary he will refer to physical therapy or the proper specialist.
In general, chiropractic treatments make up about 50% of the rehabilitation process. Identifying aberrant muscle movement / recruitment patterns, muscular strength and weaknesses, and a core assessment is followed by corrective stretches and exercises that address the patient’s unique condition. Almost all patients are given this conditioning “homework” to do outside the office and thus places a substantial portion of their recovery in their own hands. The key is knowing what to do and when to do it, and that is what Dr. John helps with.
